Membership in the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble is open to adults who have played in a college band and have maintained their proficiency after graduation. When a position opens up in SJAWE, qualified candidates are requested to submit to a 4 rehearsal "audition" which consists of being heard by the members of the section (clarinets, trumpets, etc.) for four consecutive rehearsals and then recomended to the Board of Directors who will vote on either accepting or rejecting the applicant. A $25 dues fee will be assesed for those accepted and will be applied to purchase a South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble shirt which is worn at two of our summer concerts. Dues are currently $20 yearly after the first year. The dress for all other concerts is formal and accepted members must wear a black tuxedo, white shirt, and black bow tie, black socks and black shoes for the men and a floor length black formal dress and black shoes for the women.
