Jenn Hodgson
Jennifer Poorman Hodgson, Historian

Jennifer Poorman Hodgson was a graduate of Southern Regional High school in 1993.  She then attended Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University as a clarinet major and received her Bachelor’s of Music degree in Music Education in 1997. At Mason Gross, she was a member of the Grammy nominated Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Bill Berz and was Drum Major of the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight Marching band for three of her four years. She also has attended graduate classes at West Chester University and Central Connecticut State.

Jennifer has taught students at all grade levels from Kindergarten to High School. She began her career teaching vocal music in Brigantine, Woodbine, and Barnaget schools. She then began the instrumental music program at the North school in Absecon, grades 4-8. Throughout those years she was active in working with various high school marching bands as a woodwind, color guard, marching instructor and as a drum major coach. She began working with the marching band at Southern Regional in 1999 and has been teaching full time in the district since that time.  She teaches the High School Select Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, AP Music theory, lessons, clarinet/flute choirs, and is the advisor for the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She is also the marching/drill instructor for Mainland Regional High School for the past two years.

Jennifer is a member and Historian for the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble and also has traveled with the American Music Abroad Gold tour through Europe as a director for eight years.

Jennifer lives in Egg Harbor Township with her husband, who is the band director at Mainland Regional High School, and with their two little Bichons, Maggie and Jazzy.
