ABOUT US
The South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble is a 70 member band composed of professional musicians, retired and current music teachers, as well as college graduates who have maintained high musical standards since playing in their college bands.
Formed in March of 1997, the band has commissioned fourteen compositions and collaborated in two consortiums. The band is the 2006 winner of the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Silver Scroll award, given to outstanding community bands in America. They have been featured at the NJMEA Conference three times and performed at the Association of Concert Bands National convention in Allentown, PA, Longwood Gardens, Temple International Festival and the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Sousa Festival.
The SJAWE makes its home at Atlantic County Vocational Institute (ACIT) in Mays Landing, NJ.
Rehearsals are held from 7:00-9:15 pm every Monday from September - June except holidays.
